Rachel Recchia and Gabriela «Gabby» Windey's first Rose Ceremony of The Bachelorette saw five men eliminated, along with five others who were sent packing earlier. Season 19 is the first in The Bachelor franchise to have two leads looking for love throughout the entire season. However, one complication is the women will have some overlap with the men they are attracted to; both have locked lips with Logan Palmer, for example. Still, they enjoy working as a team and having one another to lean on.
Pilot Rachel and ICU Nurse Gabby were contestants in The Bachelor season 26 with Clayton Echard. Clayton ultimately eliminated both women, leaving Rachel heartbroken and sobbing on the staircase, something that The Bachelorette contestant Tino Franco alluded to, adding that he wanted to make the mansion's stairs a happy place for her. Ultimately, Clayton chose Susie Evans, leaving Gabby and Rachel single and ready to mingle as co-leads on The Bachelorette.

Overall, the women balance one another well. For instance, Gabby's confidence balances Rachel's insecurities. Gabby converses and makes moves, such as going in for kisses with ease, whereas Rachel can be more reserved, thinking through situations more deeply. Both women share many of the same feelings, such as when they jointly decided to evict Robert «Roby» Sobieski, Justin Young, and Jason Young.
