We're recapping Day 11 of the Race to World First which involves the first kills of Mythic Anduin and the first look at Mythic Lords of Dread. Anduin Wrynn has fallen to Liquid (World 1st) and Echo (World 2nd)! The story of the boss has been an interesting one, with it falling very quickly to Liquid after a nerf to the Empowered Wicked Stars in the last phase that turned their hitboxes down to effectively zero, removing them from the encounter.
Our best bet is that this change was intended to slightly nerf the hitbox to better match the visual, but went too far and has trivialized that part of the fight, which let Liquid convert their already fantastic progression on that fight into a kill in very short order. Interestingly, despite how Liquid were the guild to benefit most obviously and directly from this, it's likely that Echo gained more from this sequence of events, as they almost certainly had more Phase 3 progression in their future that this nerf deleted, bringing the two guilds within 6 hours of each other after it had looked like Liquid had opened a more sizable lead after Halondrus.
It was certainly a weird turn of events, and in cases like this Blizzard tends to not fix these sorts of mistakes until the following reset in order to avoid treating the other guilds that have yet to earn their kills unfairly. It's likely that this mechanic will get fixed on the reset, along with some nerfs to compensate (plus double legendaries that should help ensure most guilds that killed it before will be able to kill it again without re-progression).
