Australian developer Team Cherry has had to confirm that the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Hollow Knight, Silksong, is still happening.
That's going by the studio's marketing and publishing bod Matthew Griffin, who replied to a tweet questioning whether the project was still in the works. The Team Cherry staffer said td that Silksong is "real, progressing and will release."
Silksong was announced back in 2019. Originally, it was to be DLC for Hollow Knight but grew into its own game. Since then, precious little has been shared about the project since. In fact, there has been more or less radio silence on the matter since a trailer at the June 2022 Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase implied that the title would be coming to Game Pass by June 2023.
Of course, this did not happen and things have become weird in the Silksong community to the point that fans convinced themselves that Team Cherry's William Pellen changing their Twitter profile picture to an image of a cake. So far, so normal. However, when reverse image searched, said picture was revealed to have been uploaded on April 2nd, 2024.
Some mental gymnastics later and you have the Silksong community convinced that the game will be shown off at Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2 event, which is pencilled in for April 2nd, 2025.
Shockingly, it's been revealed via a Silksong YouTuber that this is all nonsense and cope.
Yep, weird stuff, though this writer cannot claim to be above this nonsense when he himself is beyond excited to play Silksong and is prepared to believe any mad shit he is told. I'll believe anything, just to keep the flame of hope alive.
At least we're better than the Star Citizen community. $778m in funding? Lol.
