The Batman has been a hit both in terms of reviews and box office, and there's an element in the Matt Reeves film that should serve as an inspiration for the next Superman movie. Nearly 10 years since Superman's last solo film, Man of Steel, the character's future on the big screen is still uncertain. Henry Cavill's last theatrical appearance as Superman was in 2017's Justice League, and since then it hasn't been clear whether the actor will return to the role.
Reports indicate that Supergirl will be introduced in the DCEU in The Flash, although it is unknown if the character will have any connection to Henry Cavill's Superman. There is also a Superman film being envisioned by J.J Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates, but updates on the project and other attachments for it have been sparse at best. For fans of the man of steel, Superman & Lois is currently the only way to follow a live-action Superman.

Despite being a reboot, The Batman skipped Bruce Wayne's origins and jumped right into Batman's year two. Based on how well-received Matt Reeves' movie was by both critics and audiences, the next Superman reboot might do well to draw inspiration from The Batman's approach. Superhero reboots are usually tied to origin stories, such as in Batman Begins and The Amazing Spider-Man, but that shouldn't be an unbreakable rule.
