The Oscars added two new categories for 2022, the award for the most "cheer-worthy" moment and fan-favourite. This is in tandem with Twitter meaning that fans could use the social media platform to vote for their number one moment in film and not just for last year. Surprisingly, The Flash Enters Speed Force won, beating out The Matrix and Avengers: Endgame.
If you don't remember, Flash enters the speed force at the end of the Snyder Cut, reversing time to save the Justice League. It's part of the final act, setting up the Flashpoint movie which will see him toy with time in a more detrimental way - in the comics, he ushers in a new timeline where Bruce Wayne dies and his father becomes Batman while Atlantis and Themyscira war against each other. But in The Flash, it'll somehow involve Michael Keaton's Batman.

That makes Zack Snyder's Justice League the only superhero film to nab an Oscar this year, and it's also the first of the Cheer Moment award. Snyder also took home a second fan-voted award with the Fan Favourite title, that being his new zombie Netflix film Army of the Dead.
It went up against Spider-Man: No Way Home, Cinderella, Minamata, and Tick Tick... Boom!
"It just helps to augment what is already a show that's all about elevating the best of community building," producer Will Packer said. "It creates a two-way dialogue and is more inclusive because the Oscars always felt so stuffy and so one-percenter."
