Super Mario RPG is more popular than ever, thanks to the fantastic and faithful remake recently released by Nintendo. It's a much different Mario experience than what younger fans of the plumber are used to, but it's gone down a treat, and they're already itching for more from Mario, Geno, Mallow and friends. They've already started putting their wishlists together of features they want to see if Nintendo decides to capitalize on the game's newfound popularity and greenlight a sequel.
ResetEra user Meelow was the first to reveal their wishlist, with more difficulty options right at the top as their most-wanted feature. It's included on the lists of many other fans in the same thread, as Super Mario RPG has just the two difficulty options to pick from - Normal and Breezy. You'll notice that there are no options to increase the difficulty of the game if you want more of a challenge, and it seems like fans want to test their turn-based combat skills more thoroughly.
Given the Super Mario RPG's secret superboss Culex was recently beaten in just six turns, maybe they have a point.
Another very popular request for a sequel, first put forward by user Derbel McDillet, is the introduction of even more characters from the Mario universe, specifically villainous characters such as Wario and Waluigi. Other fans want characters such as Yoshi, Rosalina, and Luigi to be playable in any future games. However, some want to keep the charm of Super Mario RPG by adding new and original party members, not leaning too much on existing characters and enemies from the Mario universe.
Bigger and more EVERYTHING. The first game is precious to me and to get a sequel would be a dream come true.
