The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now in theaters (at least in North America) which means details of the game’s post-credits scene, previously teased by new Mario voice actor Chris Pratt, are now out in the wild. So, what do those post-credits scenes tease (there’s actually two of them)? Of course, you can just go watch the movie for yourself, but if you have to know now, we’ve got you covered.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s first mid-credits scene focuses on Bowser, as he finishes singing an ode to Princess Peach (previously interrupted). It’s then revealed that he’s still shrunken and locked in a bottle following the events of the end of the film. A cute scene, but nothing too meaningful.
Meanwhile, the actual post-credits scene cuts to the Brooklyn sewers, which are now home to a very Yoshi-like egg. The egg starts to crack, then we hear a typical Yoshi yelp as the movie cuts to black. A herd of Yoshis is actually shown elsewhere in the movie, but it seems likely this is a tease for a specific (perhaps voiced?) Yoshi.
Chris Pratt specifically said this post-credits scene teases a sequel, so where might we be going next? The Yoshi tease may just be as simple as them saying “Hey, Yoshi’s going to be in the next one!” Then again, maybe we’re going to be heading to a full Super-Mario-World-inspired dino land for the next movie? We shall see I suppose.
