Aero the Acro-Bat, a cult classic 16-bit platformer from Sunsoft, is making its grand return on PS5 and PS4. Scheduled for release on 2nd August 2024, you can take a look at this retro title in the above announcement trailer.
The original game released for SNES and Mega Drive back in 1993 and found praise for its soundtrack and challenging levels, in which you must complete objectives rather than simply reach the exit. Publisher Ratalaika Games is bringing the series back to modern hardware, with the first game arriving next month and what sounds like more coming later down the line.
While the game itself looks like a pretty straight conversion, there are some modern features worth noting. You'll be able to choose between the English and Japanese versions, and the game will have rewind, turbo, and save state functions. Additionally, you'll be able to choose from several screen filters, peruse a gallery of artwork, and there are various cheats you can enable to make the game less difficult.
Will you be saving the circus with Aero the Acro-Bat next month? Cannonball into the comments section below.
