Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League hasn't been enjoying much success since launch, with Warner Bors. having practically branded the game a failure and the majority of the game's fanbase having dropped off due to unpopular story choices and generally unsatisfying gameplay. Season 1 of the game's promised post-launch content was a chance to turn those fortunes around though, but Rocksteady has allowed that chance to slip through its fingers in pretty dramatic fashion.
One of the biggest parts of Season 1 was the introduction of The Joker, a popular villain that many promised to try out once Season 1 dropped, to give Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice another opportunity to leave a lasting impression. Unfortunately, those that have gone to try out The Joker are less than impressed, as the character has been locked behind a new progression system that forces players to grind through old missions for several hours.
To unlock The Joker as a playable character, you need to beat Braniac again, but progression has been reset with Season 1's new map. To reach Braniac again, you need to get your new "Fear Episode Rank" to level 35, and players are stuck grinding through old content just to get their hands on The Joker, as no new missions have been added. Warner Bros. has been incredibly generous to those who don't fancy grinding out levels though, and has given players the option to purchase The Joker outright for $10.
This is despite Rocksteady claiming before the release of Season 1 that all post-launch content for Suicide Squad would be completely free for the first year, and would be "generous" to boot. Sure, you don't have to pay for The Joker at all if you don't mind grinding through old content, but many feel like they've been bamboozled by Rocksteady, as it was expected characters would be readily available with each season and wouldn't have to be earned in this manner.
