After a short period in the Steam Beta Branch, Starfield’s latest update is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S. As the largest update yet for the space-faring RPG, it features multiple new features and sweeping changes. For example, surface maps on planets are vastly improved, denoting points of interest. It even outlines all the vendors in cities to fast travel to.
Players can now decorate ships like outposts with new empty ship modules available, alter their Traits and appearance in New Game Plus and sort through different inventory menus via Tabs. There are also new gameplay options which can make the game easier or more challenging, an option to turn off the dialogue camera to avoid the weird zoom-in when speaking to people and more.
Xbox Series X players can also take advantage of new display settings, with the Frame Rate Target option providing 30 FPS, 40 FPS and 60 FPS. You can also select an uncapped frame rate on a VRR display, toggle VSync, and prioritize Visuals or Performance. Check out some of the patch notes below and full details here.
Starfield Update 1.11.36 – May 15, 2024
Starfield’s latest update is here and it’s bringing several new features with it!
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Read on for a full list of fixes and improvements!
Xbox Series X Display Settings
We’ve heard from many that you’d like to have more control over the graphic fidelity and performance on Xbox, similar to how PC players can customize their experience. We’re now enabling that on Xbox Series X with a few options that you can use to find the best fit for your playstyle and display.
For each of these, we highly recommend a Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) Display running at 120hz, and to verify your Xbox is setup to use it. If you have it setup this way, Starfield will now default to a frame rate target of 40, while keeping the priority for full visuals.
