One of the key components to any playthrough is wrapping up the main campaign and leaping into a New Game+ run that retains the equipment and abilities that have been discovered. Not only is it a fun way to keep playing the game, but it also incentivizes the Starborn to grow as powerful as possible, even if they can become a little too strong.
This article contains major spoilers for 's ending.Thanks to Nexus Mod user youngneil1, players who find experience a little too easy can now ramp up the difficulty with «The Deep End» mod which makes each subsequent New Game+ 25% more difficult. With the mod installed, every New Game+ will see players taking significantly more damage from combat, prompting the creator to challenge users to get as far down The Deep End as they possibly can. This effect applies to each universe that the Starborn can discover up to New Game+100.
The base version of, starting a New Game+ run does make the overall experience slightly more challenging by increasing the amount of damage enemies deal by 10%, eventually capping out at 100% in New Game+10. At the same time, damage dealt by the Starborn decreases by 5% for every new universe, eventually also being capped at New Game+10. The Deep End effectively removes these restrictions, meaning it's entirely possible to play through a game where even the weakest of foes is able to land a hit that kills instantly.
There's currently no reward for reaching the bottom of The Deep End but youngneil1 does note that they may look into eventually adding in special rewards and Easter Eggs for players who manage to progress especially far.
