After numerous delays and a lot of speculation, Starfield finally has a concrete release date - September 6, 2023.
The date was announced in a new teaser clip shared on the official Bethesda YouTube channel which opens with a narrator welcoming us aboard a space station. He says that the eye is "showing signs of another one of those big anomalies", an ominous lede into the new release date reveal.

"We have poured ourselves into this game and even I'm surprised how much we can pour - it is large," game director Todd Howard said following this new teaser clip. "We know you've waited a long time to play something new from us. Believe it or not, we're kind of the same - we miss it. We really cannot wait for you all to play it, so thanks and we'll see you soon."
In the build-up to its eventual launch, Starfield will also be hosting a dedicated Direct on June 11, giving us a deep dive into the game and where it's at right now. Three months later, we should be able to try it out for ourselves, unless any further delays happen.
Starfield was initially pushed back last May to the first half of 2023, with some speculating that we'd get our hands on it as soon as April. However, no specific date was given, leaving fans to speculate as rumours mounted. While it appears to have been pushed further out, this is our first date since the original one of November 11, 2022, which would have coincided with Skyrim's anniversary.
Xbox head Phil Spencer said that Starfield was delayed as he has experience "shipping games too early", adding that "The decision to give the team the time to build the game that they feel they should be building is just the right thing to do." He also said
