Last Wednesday, Bethesda Game Studios released a beta branch for the upcoming Starfield update. The main addition of the update is NVIDIA DLSS (Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and DLAA), though there are also other CPU/GPU optimizations, brightness sliders, and various bug fixes.
A few days later, the studio updated the Starfield beta branch to version 1.8.84, fixing various stability and blurring/ghosting issues with DLSS. The full changelog can be read below.
The Starfield beta update isn't scheduled to go live on the main branch until later this month, so there may be additional patches from the developer. Still, even with the current build, GeForce RTX owners received a major performance boost that allowed them to overtake AMD hardware, which previously outperformed NVIDIA's for once.
Starfield won the Xbox Game of the Year award at the yearly Golden Joystick Awards. Yesterday, it was nominated in the Best RPG category for The Game Awards; the winners will be announced on December 7 during the livestreamed ceremony that will feature lots of announcements, too.
