Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will feature "tangible" rewards for optional exploration, including equippable perks for Cal and items for a "deep" customisation system.
One common complaint about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is that it didn't offer much to players for completing its optional content and exploring the planets, aside from a bit of lore and some infamously uninteresting ponchos for Cal. After having previously confirmed that ponchos won't be returning thanks to Cal's new rugged look, Respawn has given a bit more detail about Survivor's side content.

Jedi: Survivor made an appearance at IGN's Fan Fest, where the game's design director, Jeff Magers, debuted some never-before-seen footage of the game's new Jedi Meditation Temple side missions. The footage makes these Jedi temples look similar to the shrines you'd find in Breath of the Wild, tasking Cal with solving some puzzles to earn a reward.
Speaking of rewards, Mager was asked whether Jedi: Survivor would feature more "tangible" rewards for completing side missions, something that was then met with a joke about ponchos, which is a nice bit of self-awareness from Respawn. Mager replied by revealing that tangible rewards were a focus this time around and that they'll come in the form of perks that Cal can equip to change his gameplay style.
One example we see in the clip is "Dexterity", which Cal unlocks after completing the temple and finding an item at the end. For those worried that this means no cosmetics, Mager thankfully also confirmed "deep" customisation options for Cal this time around, something we've briefly seen with the game's pre-order bonuses.
