The Surface Laptop Studio 2 could be an impressive portable computing machine, according to the latest leak. Fresh specifications findings reveal that the top-tier version could also arrive with an NVIDIA RTX 4060, making this the most powerful Surface ever launched by the company.
The Surface Laptop Studio 2 is said to feature Intel’s latest 13th-generation processor, the Core i7-13800H, according to Geekbench 5. For those that do not know, this CPU features six performance cores and eight efficiency cores, totaling 14 cores. Unfortunately, the benchmark has not stated the maximum sustained power limit of the CPU, so just because a chassis features a powerful chip, it does not mean that the cooling solution is capable enough to control its temperatures.
Other specifications of the Surface Laptop Studio 2 include an NVIDIA RTX 4060 with 8GB of GDDR6 video memory, according to Gustave Monce, and up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM. Not only is Microsoft likely catering this machine to be of ample use to creative professionals, but it may also be able to play the latest AAA games at high visual settings. We still have to see what resolution the Surface Laptop Studio 2’s display will resonate, as the number of pixels will determine the kind of frames the laptop RTX 4060 can churn out.
Again, like the CPU, the GPU power limit was not listed anywhere in the Geekbench 5 benchmark, so we have no way of knowing how it will perform in other tests. However, since the graphics processor obtained a score of 81,285 in the OpenCL category, the GPU performs close to a mobile RTX 3060 running at a higher power limit. However, we should not limit our conclusion to a single benchmark since the RTX 4060 will behave differently with other applications.
