When fans first met Han Solo in Star Wars: A New Hope, they were introduced to him through a scene featuring Greedo. While the green bounty hunter is killed off immediately, the encounter sets up an ongoing storyline as Han owes money to the Tatooine-based gangster, Jabba the Hutt. Soon, comics will explore the job that went wrong and led Greedo to pull out a blaster in Mos Eisley Cantina.
WhileSolo: A Star Wars Story filled in some of the backstory of Han Solo predating the original trilogy, it left a lot unexplored. The film concluded with a tease of Han’s next adventure, involving his partnership with Chewie working for Jabba the Hutt. Now, comics are elaborating on the undepicted mission that eventually led the crime lord to put a bounty on Han, and have him frozen in carbonite. The miniseries Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca is written by Marc Guggenheim and features art by David Messina.

In an announcement by StarWars.com featuring previews for comics set to debut in July, Han Solo & Chewbacca #5 is promising to showcase Greedo’s anger with Han. When the smuggler duo was tasked by Jabba to pull off a heist, Han expressed his disinterest in working alongside Greedo. Seemingly unable to trust him, Han knew the bounty hunter would be trouble later on. Although fans can fill in various details in the original trilogy, as Han owed Jabba money, it wasn’t as straightforward why Greedo held a personal grudge against the smuggler. The issue features a cover by Phil Noto, along with variants by David Lopez and Chris Sprouse.
