Kumail Nanjiani reacts to his Star Wars character's first appearance in the new Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer. The upcoming series is the latest in the sci-fi franchise's Disney+ expansion, which will see a number of new live-action and animated shows debut over the next couple of years. Though it was originally scheduled to release on the anniversary of A New Hope's 1977 release, Obi-Wan Kenobi will now premiere on Friday, May 27.
As perhaps the most anticipated of the new Star Wars shows, Obi-Wan Kenobi sees the return of Ewan McGregor as the titular character, a role he played to much acclaim in the prequel trilogy. Hayden Christensen will also be coming back to the franchise, this time as a fully-formed Darth Vader, though a number of new characters will be introduced as well. Some, such as Rupert Friend's Grand Inquisitor, have already been named, but stars including Nanjiani, O'Shea Jackson Jr., and Benny Safdie have yet to have their roles confirmed.

Now, however, the release of a new Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer on Star Wars Day revealed the first look at Nanjiani's character, and the actor himself can hardly believe it. In his reaction, he admits that it took until this moment for it to really sink in that he was part of the Star Wars universe. Even with this brief glimpse at Nanjiani in costume, his part remains unnamed, and his exact role in the series is still unclear. Check out the actor's tweet below:
