Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor has recalled watching his uncle in the original Star Wars film. Obi-Wan Kenobi is perhaps the most anticipated Star Wars series from Disney to date. The show is set to take place ten years after the conclusion of Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, as the titular Jedi watches over a young Luke Skywalker while avoiding the Empire's Jedi hunters. Fans have been excited for quite some time since it was announced that the series would see McGregor once again stepping into the role of Obi-Wan, as well as Hayden Christensen taking on the role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to hit Disney+ on March 27.
While many fans are aware that McGregor first took on the role of Obi-Wan back in the 1999 film The Phantom Menace, some may not be aware that this is not actually the actor's first connection to the Star Wars franchise. McGregor's uncle Denis Lawson appears in all three films of the original Star Wars trilogy. Lawson can be seen as Wedge the rebel pilot. Audiences may remember Wedge as a pilot who participated in the assault on the Death Star in A New Hope, the battle of Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back, and the second assault on the Death Star in Return of the Jedi. Impressively, Wedge also survives the entire trilogy.
