Luke and Ahsoka appeared in the same scene for the first time in The Book of Boba Fett, but now Star Wars has delivered a much better version of that meeting. In The Book of Boba Fett episode 6, Boba Fett took the backseat while the show followed the story of the Mandalorian and his visit to a now Padawan Grogu. As if revisiting Mando, Grogu, and Luke Skywalker was not enough for an episode – «From the Desert Comes a Stranger» also had Ahsoka walking around Luke's new Jedi temple.
As with The Mandalorian season 2 finale, Star Wars once again chose not to recast Luke Skywalker. Instead, deep fake and digital replacement techniques were employed to recreate the face of a Return of the Jedi age Mark Hamill. While the results were significantly better this time than in The Mandolorian season 2, Luke's CGI face still had an uncanny-valley element to it. Nevertheless, the technology used made it possible to have Luke Skywalker training Grogu and being in the same place as Ahsoka Tano

The idea of Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano interacting was for a long time considered a pipe dream that would never come true. However, with the Disney+ series not drawing lines as to which characters they would and would not use, the meeting between Anakin's son and Padawan finally took place. That said, now that Disney Gallery's Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett episode revealed behind-the-scenes moments with Mark Hamill on set alongside Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka, it's hard not to judge the actual scene as being underwhelming.
