The second trailer for Disney’s Obi-Wan Kenobi sees the exiled Jedi Master wrongly blamed by Owen Lars for Anakin Skywalker’s fall to the Dark Side. With Obi-Wan Kenobi’s release date quickly approaching, Star Wars Day came with a special treat of the second trailer for the series that will depict Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi’s time on Tatooine.. While Star Wars had long explained the time of “Old Ben” on Tatooine as a way to watch over Anakin’s son Luke Skywalker, the Disney+ series is introducing the many conflicts faced by Obi-Wan during this gap in the timeline, with the most important struggles relating to training Luke, reflecting upon Anakin’s downfall, and evading Star Wars' Inquisitors.
One of the saddest moments in Star Wars movies occurs at the end of Revenge of the Sith, which saw Obi-Wan lamenting to Anakin that he was his brother and couldn’t understand how he fell so deeply under Palpatine’s influence. While turning into Darth Vader became the ultimate betrayal of Anakin to Obi-Wan, the latter Jedi was never blamed for his fall, even if Kenobi may have internally harbored such guilt himself. As such, it was surprising to see that Obi-Wan Kenobi’s triumphant return to Star Wars came with the notion that he was being blamed by Owen Lars for Anakin becoming the villainous Darth Vader.
