Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story is scheduled to arrive in theaters nationwide, including Los Angeles and New York, on December 6, 2024. This marks the fourth installment of the Trailer Park Boys film franchise, and the first movie to be released since the show’s ending in 2018.
“While Bubbles and his band, ‘The Shitrockers,’ are playing shows around Nova Scotia a viral internet clip lands them a European tour opening for Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “With Randy as their roadie, they head to Prague but soon get kicked off the tour, busking to survive. Can Ricky and Julian come to the rescue?”
The film is directed by Charlie Lightening from a screenplay written by Mike Smith. The cast includes Smith, Robb Wells, JP Tremblay, Pat Roach, Ronnie Wood, Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, and Robert Sheehan. In real life, Smith actually has a real-life band named Bubbles and The Shitrockers, who are set to release a new 14-track album sometime this fall.
