GSC Game Worlds has announced a new release date for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The game will now launch across PC and Xbox Series X|S (and certain tiers of Xbox Game Pass) on 20th November 2024, a delay of two and a half months from the previously announced 5th September.
The team writes, “We know you might be tired of waiting, and we truly appreciate your patience. These two additional months will give us the chance to fix more “unexpected anomalies” (or simply “bugs”, as you call them). […] We are always grateful for your ongoing support and understanding – it means the world to us. We’re just as eager as you are to finally release the game and for you to experience it for yourself.”
Either way, the team is also planning to give a much deeper look at the game in the near future, with a Developer Deep Dive video set for 12th August to look behind the scenes on the game’s creation and explore more of how the game actually plays.
This deep dive video will feature:
This gives a little more time to catch up on the series so far. Console players have been able to visit the twisted world of STALKER for the first time with a STALKER trilogy remaster earlier this year. Dipping into those games, Jim said, “the trilogy presents console players with an opportunity to play through these STALKER titles in the same condition that PC players have been able to experience them for the last decade and a half. As someone who struggled to get them running on my own PC back around the time they launched, being able to finally venture into the Zone on console has been immensely satisfying, even if these ageing first person shooters don’t cater for modern gamer sensibilities.”
