Indie game studio emptyvessel has announced its first project. It's a game titled DEFECT, an immersive multiplayer cyberpunk squad shooter. The game is still in development, but upon release, it aims to give players a new kind of experience in an already saturated market of shooters.
The game claims to be a highly tactical combat experience for fans of the action-shooter genre. It takes place in a futuristic city ruled by an AI system that divides the people across the city. Not only are there AI systems trying to rule the city, but ruthless and angry gangs are fighting back against rogue law enforcement, with both trying to claim power in the city.
DEFECT is being developed with the help of industry veterans who helped create iconic franchises such as DOOM, Call of Duty, and The Last of Us. There is minimal information on when players can expect to get their hands on DEFECT, as there is no current release date prediction. However, those interested in playing DEFECT can wishlist the game on Steam right now.
However, for those who want to know more about this cyberpunk shooter, there is a reveal trailer showcasing some of the elements players can expect to see in the upcoming game. The trailer shows off some of the early game-play in DEFECT, as well as the close-quarter shootouts that you'll have to participate in, and shows off the dystopian city you will get to explore before chaos unveils before you.
