SPINE is a single-player, story-rich action game that emphasises close-quarters gun fights, aping the aesthetics of Gun-fu movies like John Wick, and it's coming to PS5. We got an impressive-looking gameplay trailer showing all kinds of up-close, stylised mayhem.
Telling a cyberpunk story set in the near future, SPINE takes its name from the augmentation that allows our protagonist, Redline, to boost her reflexes to such insane levels. Developed and published by Nekki, this one was initially envisioned as a team-based action game before reemerging as a story-focused single-player game.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, SPINE is a fusion of cinematic gunplay and beat 'em up gameplay. Players can dive into the chaos, experiencing the unique camerawork and choreography, playing the leading role in a thrilling action movie converted to video game form.
No release date for this one yet, but we'll be sure to keep an eye out for additional information. We'd love to see an extended piece of gameplay and find out how the game fits together.
