Marvel's Spider-Man is known for being exceptionally smart and unforgivably flaky, but one slam from the former Green Goblin, Norman Osborn, makes it clear that these characteristics are one and the same.
Following Peter Parker's saga with the Beyond Corporation, tragic events and accidents have taken over his life. Although it hasn't been revealed yet, it seems as if everyone is mad at Peter for a huge mistake in the recent past, and he is once again unemployed. Just when he is in need of a job, he gets a call from a newly reformed Norman Osborn to babysit his grandson while he's at work. Despite having been literally purged of his sins, Norman is still as assertive as ever, and he doesn't really give Peter an opportunity to turn him down, especially once a past criticism of the Wall-Crawler is laid bare.

The scene takes place in The Amazing Spider-Man #2 by Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr. With Norman standing right there, his grandson tells Peter, «Grandpa says you're so smart it makes you dumb.» It's surprising to hear such a brutal takedown from someone so young, but the boy is not wrong. He's surprisingly spot-on in deconstructing Peter Parker's entire personality. He's a brilliant scientist, often able to think his way out of a problem, yet his inability to prioritize constantly works against his own happiness, as seen with his ostracized friends in this new story arc.
It's very telling that Norman Osborn of all people is the one to tell his grandson this. As the Green Goblin, Norman hasn't just battled Peter on numerous occasions, he's also watched Peter grow up from being a boy. On
