Yuri Lowenthal, the voice of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Insomniac‘s pair of superhero games, will also voice the character in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, it’s been confirmed.
During a recent studio visit, developer Firaxis confirmed to VGC that Lowenthal will take up the mantle of Peter Parker once again for the new tactical deck-building game, despite the game taking part in a separate universe from Insomniac’s games.
Creative director Jake Solomon told VGC, “It’s not meant to be that Spidey, but we heard that Spidey and said ‘that sounds like Peter Parker to me’ but it’s not the exact same character'”.
Lowenthal has voiced Peter Parker multiple times, including in Marvel Future Revolution. He’s even appeared as The Lizard in a recent incarnation of the Spider-Man animated TV series.
In our new preview of Marvel’s Midnight Suns we said: “The combat encounters are sophisticated, challenging and a lot of fun, and the social aspects of the game are a real dark horse. Those quiet moments between the missions are what could really make Midnight Suns a classic, and from what we’ve seen, it’s off to a good start.”
Publisher 2K has confirmed that Marvel’s Midnight Suns will now release on October 7.
The PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC versions of the game will be released on the newly-confirmed date, while the Switch version “will be available at a later date”.
The release date was revealed during a new trailer which was shown during the Summer Game Fest show today.
The trailer shows the Midnight Suns fighting against Lilith’s army, joined by two new playable heroes including Spider-Man.
The heroes face off against Lilith’s own group of enemies, including corrupted Fallen versions of Venom, Sabretooth, the Hulk and Scarlet Witch.
