In the world of superheroes like Spider-Man, the secret identity is treasured above all else. But the Marvel villainTombstone shows how little he actually cares about all that.
Spider-Man is in a rather tricky spot currently. After dealing with his wayward clone Ben Reilly and the corrupt Beyond Corporation, Peter Parker is in the process of building back his reputation. It hasn't been revealed yet as to why, but many in Peter's life are perturbed by his recent actions. All this happens while Spider-Man has found himself in an escalating gang war between Kingpin's son, the Rose, who was just been recently resurrected and the soft-spoken yet dangerous gangster Tombstone.

In Amazing Spider-Man #3 by Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr., Tombstone smartly sets a trap for Spider-Man. Knowing that the wall-crawler needs room to maneuver, Tombstone lures him into a van and traps him. With Spider-Man his prisoner, Tombstone continues to torture him. Spidey begs him so not to remove his mask, but Tombstone could care less who Spider-Man is underneath it, telling Spidey, "I don't play dress-up, and I don't care who you are. Hear me?" And he's right. Tombstone could just kill Spider-Man here and now and his secret identity as Peter Parker would actually be meaningless at this point.
This is a very refreshing take on a villain’s relationship with a hero's secret identity. The stereotype is that a villain will find out who a hero is and then attack the people he loves. Spider-Man is obsessed with this after so many close calls and tragedies with Aunt May, Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane, and more. But if the hero is
