Spider-Man: No Way Home brought back Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man in a way that made bsense, but it let down one of its five villains: the Lizard. Rhys Ifans returned to voice the iconic Spidey villain, starring alongside the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, and the Sandman. However, by trying to balance three Spider-Men from across the multiverse and five villains, director Jon Watts and writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers missed some key interactions between Curt Connors and Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker.
Dr Curt Connors first appeared in Spider-Man 2, as Peter Parker's university professor, played by Dylan Baker. He then showed up in Spider-Man 3, advising Peter not to let any of the Venom symbiote touch him. Though Sam Raimi made no other Spider-Man movies after Spider-Man 3, he discussed following up with Dr Connors and showing his transformation into the Lizard in the canceled Spider-Man 4. However, Connors did appear in the next Spider-Man movie without Raimi, as he was the primary villain of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, with a new version of Dr. Connors for the newSpider-Man timeline. He most recently appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home, crossing over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He arguably had the smallest role of all the villains and never spoke to Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker, just Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland's versions of the character.
