Mary Jane Watson has been a fixture in Spider-Man's adventures since debuting in The Amazing Spider-Man #42. Following the death of Gwen Stacy, Watson would become Peter Parker's primary love interest leading to one of the most iconic couples in comics. However, Marvel Comics had split the couple up on a handful of occasions, with none of the breakups causing more controversy when Spider-Man and MJ made a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May, which caused their marriage to never exist. Spider-Man and Mary Jane would eventually reconcile and were together at the end of Nick Spencer's recently completed run on the hero. Now, Marvel is teasing another breakup for the couple, and some readers aren't happy.
