Zendaya says she felt like Tom Holland's mom dropping him off at school on the first day of Spider-Man: No Way Home rehearsals with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. The Marvel Cinematic Universe film is the third solo-outing for Holland's Peter Parker and re-teamed him with series director Jon Watts. No Way Home released in theaters worldwide on December 17 and has enjoyed tremendous success, becoming one of the highest-grossing films in history despite the ongoing pandemic.
Watts' movie proved a major event for Spider-Man fans, as the filmmakers used the evolving multiverse storytelling device to reintroduce characters from past Spidey franchises. Early marketing confirmed this included villains such as Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, and Jamie Foxx's Electro, but despite fervent speculation and a few set leaks, Marvel Studios refused to acknowledge the involvement of Maguire and Garfield, the previous portrayers of the friendly neighborhood hero. They did, of course, appear in No Way Home, and the union of all three big-screen Spideys was an emotional experience for all involved.

According to an interview with Marvel Entertainment, that even included Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, who co-star as MJ and Ned, respectively. Describing the first day of rehearsals featuring the three Spider-Man actors, Zendaya remembers being nervous for Holland, describing her and Batalon as having felt like his parents dropping him off at school. Knowing how important it was for all involved, she says she was there taking pictures to preserve the moment:
