Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Has A Weird Reference To Mario Kart
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is less than a month away from release, so it makes sense that trailers for the movie have started appearing on TV screens. Several new TV spots have shown off some brand-new footage, and it looks just as good as the others trailers we already have, as is expected. However, one of these TV trailers is drawing a little more attention than the rest, mainly due to Spider-Gwen making a cheeky little reference to one of Nintendo's most popular titles.
In this short trailer, we see Vulture throwing down with Spider-Gwen for some unknown reason, who says "Ciao ragazza" during the fight, which translates to "Hello girl" in English. Obviously, Spider-Gwen doesn't have Google Translate on hand like I do and clearly doesn't speak Italian, so she apologises and cheekily quips that "the only Italian I know is from Mario Kart".

We can glean two things from this. First, Mario is now canonised in the Spider-Man universe, as it's safe to assume that the main games are in there if his karting spinoff is getting a mention. Secondly, we now know that Spider-Gwen is a gamer, which instantly puts her at the top of the list of the best Spider-people out there. Sure, Peter Parker may have saved the world once or twice, but can he drift perfectly around Moo Moo Meadows?
Away from Mario Kart and onto the rest of the new footage, we also get a very relatable scene with Peter Parker in which he says that the phrase "the fate of the multiverse" makes his brain die. After a handful of average Marvel movies post Avengers Endgame, I'd have to agree. There's also a few new, yet very short scenes, although the majority is just cut up
