Genvid’s interactive streaming series Silent Hill: Ascension will have weekly episodes on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, the Bravia Core app for Bravia TVs, and Xperia app on select Xperia smartphones as part of a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
PlayStation owners can watch weekly packaged episodes of the audience-influenced storylines via the Sony Pictures Core app. This is the rebranded Bravia Core app that Sony recently used to add a curated catalogue of ad-free movies to a PlayStation Plus subscription.
Silent Hill: Ascension’s premiere is set for 6pm Pacific / 9pm Eastern on October 31 on the mobile app or at the official Ascension website. “Audiences will be taken on a mind-bending, interactive journey as they follow the complex lives of two families in peril, linked by unnerving visions and terrifying monstrosities that hound them to the brink of damnation,” reads the official blurb.
Announced back in October 2022, Silent Hill: Ascension is a choose-your-own-adventure mini-series where the stream’s chat will collectively come to decisions that “impact the canon of Silent Hill”. It will feature daily live story scenes that will change based on the audience’s decisions.
Genvid CEO Jacob Navok insisted Silent Hill: Ascension is “not a game”, rather “an interactive streaming series that will change as the audience makes decisions together”. Its creators insist they do not know how the series will end. “Participating in Silent Hill: Ascension each day means you’ll be part of history that will never come again,” Navok said.
Silent Hill: Ascension is only one of a few Silent Hill projects in the works, including a remake of Silent Hill 2, two spinoffs, and a new movie.
