Updates on Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 have completely dried up since its announcement a little over a year ago, though it seems some new details about new content that will be included in the game have managed to find their way into the limelight nonetheless.
Spotted by a user on ResetEra, Best Buy recently published a listing for the survival horror remake, and though it was promptly taken down, while it was up, it did seem to spill the beans on some new content that’ll be featured in the remake. As per the listing (a screenshot of which can be viewed below), the upcoming Silent Hill 2 will include a “special origin story” for fan-favourite monstrosity Pyramid Head for fans to play through.
Some fans have speculated that this is referring to Born from a Wish, a side-story chapter that was included in the original Silent Hill 2’s re-releases, featuring protagonist James Sutherland’s wife Maria as the main character.
Shortly after the Silent Hill 2 remake’s announcement, reports claimed that Konami has had developer Bloober Team on “an extremely short leash” for new content and changes to the original’s storyline. Bloober Team itself has also said that it doesn’t intend to mess with the “established narrative core”.
Notably, the developer has also confirmed that Silent Hill art director and creature designer Masahiro Ito – who also created the aforementioned Pyramid Head – has “taken an active part” in the remake’s development, alongside series composer Akira Yamaoka.
Of course, with pre-order listings for Silent Hill 2’s remake going up on retailer websites, speculation is also rife about whether Konami will soon be sharing new updates on the game, including, perhaps, a release date announcement. Stay tuned
