In a look ahead at all the games planned for the PS5 in the coming year, Sony has confirmed that both Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Silent Hill 2 remake are set to release in 2024.
Up until this point we might have expected the games to be coming this year, but Konami had not given either a launch window, so this is pretty great news for those wondering what they can expect to play on their PS5s (and other platforms).
Announced last spring, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remakes the PS2 classic in Unreal Engine 5. They followed this up with the first in-engine footage in October, but it still felt fairly early and constrained. It seems that Konami is much further along with development than we thought! This one isn’t a console exclusive, so it’s set to come out across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Where MGS Delta is in development by Konami themselves (with help from Virtuos), Silent Hill 2 has ben entrusted to psychological horror specialists Bloober Team.
Announced back in 2022, this is a remake of the 2001 PS2 classic, also using Unreal Engine 5 and tapping into all of the game engine’s latest features like Lumen and Nanite. Little has been shown of the game since that announcement, but the studio has shared that development is “progressing smoothly”, and asked for patience from fans who are champing at the bit to re-experience this game. This one is a PlayStation 5 console exclusive.
Elsewhere, Sony also highlighted everything from third party games like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, to indie games like Pacific Drive, and first party games Rise of the Ronin and Concord.
We’ve had a good chunk of these in our own Most Wanted games of 2024.
