Rumors of Metal Gear Solid remakes have done the rounds for years. In 2021, Bluepoint Games was rumored to be working on “several” remakes in the acclaimed stealth action series. While Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was finally announced by Virtuos after many rumors, it seems a remake of the first game is still in development.
Sources that spoke to Areajugones reported the remake has been in development for “several years.” It’s allegedly in an early phase and one of Konami’s most “ambitious projects” for the coming years, which it will focus all efforts on following the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. There’s no information on the developer or a release date, but it’s reportedly only launching for PS5.
Regardless, it will be some time before an official announcement, even if Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches this year (according to PlayStation’s recent trailer for upcoming titles). Nevertheless, if true, it could be another big exclusive for Sony. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
