The planned Early Access window for is much smaller than the nearly four years that its predecessor spent in a pre-release state. Endnight Games has, however, proven that it treats Early Access as more than a dumping ground, with ultimately achieving an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam. If does end up suffering some delays, it seems more likely that they'll be for fine-tuning than anything else, although there's still a bit of time for a full release to drop within the original stated schedule.

Enemies have been fleshed out since the initial Early Access release of in a number of key ways. features three overarching enemy types — cannibals, mutants, and hostile animals. The slim lineup of hostile animals has stuck to sharks and orcas, but both of the other categories have received some additions. Although none of the early patches focused on expanding the enemy roster, later ones added a couple of returning endgame mutants from and the new cannibals Frank, Eddy, and Greg, who all attack in unique ways. Three new boss fights have also been inserted over the course of the game.
