A Sonic Frontiers dataminer has discovered animation data for Knuckles, Tails, and Amy in the latest update for the game, which gives us a look at what their movesets are going to be like.
Following the launch of Sonic Frontiers last year, Sega confirmed that we'd be getting free updates for at least a year, introducing new gameplay mechanics (like the recently-revealed return of the spin-dash), game modes, unlockable costumes, and more. The biggest piece of content that's being added, though, is a story expansion that makes Knuckles, Tails, and Amy playable, which is currently set for release later this year.

Since revealing the update roadmap, Sega hasn't officially given any details on this final update beyond confirming that it makes Sonic's three best friends playable, but it seems that development on it is going smoothly. After yesterday's birthday update went live, Twitter user and dataminer bluwolfblitz shared a tweet thread that reveals that Sonic Team left animation data for Knuckles, Tails, and Amy in the game, revealing each of their movesets.
Let's start off with Amy, as she's by far the most interesting and likely the one that's been the most work since she's not been playable in a 3D Sonic game for quite some time. The animation data reveals that Amy has her iconic Piko Hammer, but that she also attacks with tarot cards, which has slowly become one of her main personality traits over the past few years of Sonic games. It seems that Amy has had the least work done so far, which is likely due to most of her appearances being in 2D games lately.
