Sonic Frontiers' latest update has finally addressed complaints about the game's momentum by adding an option to adjust Sonic's deceleration speed after jumping and fans are ecstatic about it.
When Sega showcased the latest update for Sonic Frontiers at Sonic Central a few days ago, it might have seemed like it wasn't very noteworthy as, aside from the spin-dash, it seemed to mainly focus on some new cosmetics and challenges to celebrate Sonic's birthday. As it turns out, the update was actually a very big deal, introducing some new gameplay options that fans say have completely changed how the game plays.

When Sonic Frontiers launched last year, fans were very vocal about one big issue with the game's movement - the lack of momentum. All of the most recent Sonic games have had this issue, with the blue blur's speed mostly remaining static and not changing based on the terrain. This was much more noticeable in Frontiers because of the 3D open-zone movement and was especially noticeable whenever Sonic jumped, which would cause him to lose most of the speed that he had gained.
Thankfully, it seems that Sonic Team was aware of the negative response to Frontiers' momentum, as the latest update includes several options that go a long way to fixing the issues. As showcased by Twitter user PersonthePerso2, the update lets you adjust Sonic's deceleration speed when jumping, his inertia after stopping, and his boost speed while airborne.
