Sonic Dream Team's Content Update 2, or Version 1.3, has introduced a host of new content to the game, including a new zone. The last big content drop for the title was released in February.
Released in December 2023, Sonic Dream Team is a 3D platformer that follows the adventures of the series' titular protagonist, Sonic the Hedgehog, and his friends through the Reverie Haven, a dream world that has been corrupted by longtime franchise villain Dr. Ivo «Eggman» Robotnik. The Unity engine-powered title developed by UK-based Hardlight and published by Sega was praised by fans for its visuals and gameplay, but it was also criticized for its narrative and short length. Since its release, however, Sonic Dream Team has received a few updates that have provided players with additional content, with the latest one having even introduced a new area.
Sonic Dream Team's Content Update 2 adds the new Sweet Dreams zone, complete with fresh levels, missions, and music tracks. This 1.3 update, which was released on April 17, also introduced ranked badges, as well as new gameplay toys that can be found in Sweet Dreams. This new segment is set after the title's main adventure and will feature stages created by Ariem, a new character who debuted in Sonic Dream Team.
In comparison, Content Update 1, Sonic Dream Team's first major post-launch update that was released in February, added eight new boss missions. It also introduced a new time trial mode called Speed Battle that gave players the ability to record and beat their best times in stages.
The previous update, 1.2, also overhauled the encounters with Dr. Crabulous, Factory Foremen, and Guardian Hunter, the latter of which is considered by many players to be the best boss fight in Sonic Dream Team. While the game only has these three and Dr. Eggman as bosses, the battles are regarded as being fun and memorable as they were designed to take advantage of Sonic Dream Team's unique platforming.
