A native The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask PC port has been made available, complete with Steam Deck support, Gyro aiming, and much more.
A freshly released tool allows for PC ports of N64 titles without the need to use the original game's source code. This new project isn't to be confused with the project from 'HarbourMasters' that we reported on last year. Created by coder 'Mr Wiseguy', his recompilation of Majora's Mask uses static recompilation to automatically translate an application from one platform to another. In order to be able to play the game on PC, users will only need the original ROM of the game - no game assets are required. As noted by the creator, the tool uses 'Dario's' RT64 plugin as the rendering engine to provide various enhancements, including fully intact N64 effects, high-resolution effects, widescreen support, and 60+ FPS. "A lot of care was put into RT64 to make sure all graphical effects were rendered exactly as they did originally on the N64. No workarounds or "hacks" were made to replicate these effects, with the only modifications to them being made for enhancement purposes such as widescreen support", the creator of the tool explains.
As said, the project also supports Steam Deck support with players having the option to set up Gyro Aiming on Valve's platform as well. For more information, check out the Github page here.
As mentioned by modder 'Dario' on X, additional features such as ray tracing and emulator support will come in future updates when they're ready. We've included a video of this impressive project below (courtesy of YouTuber 'Nerrel') alongside the main features of this recompilation tool below:
