A new Super Smash Bros. mod has added Sonic the Hedgehog to the game as a playable character. The mod is called Smash Remix and it has added characters like Marth and Mewtwo to Super Smash Bros.on the Nintendo 64.
The original Super Smash Bros. only had first-party Nintendo characters on its roster. It wasn't until Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Nintendo Wii that the series started adding third-party characters. The first third-party characters in Super Smash Bros. were Sonic the Hedgehog and Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series. As time went on, the series added a number of popular third-party characters to the series, with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate featuring Cloud and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Steve from Minecraft, Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter, and Joker from Persona 5. Smash Remix has added Ganondorf to the game, as well as characters like Lucas from Mother 3 and Wolf from Star Fox.

The Ver 1.1.0 release of Smash Remix has been released and a new trailer on the Smash Remix YouTube channel has revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog has been added to the game. Sonic retains many of his moves from the official Super Smash Bros. games, such as his spring recovery and his Homing Attack. There is also a classic Sonic variant that can be selected as a character and Super Sonic appears as an alternate boss in the Remix mode.
Bowser is already part of Smash Remix and he has been given a low-poly model to help the game run smoother when there are lots of characters in a match. The mod has added Green Hill Zone, Subcon, Metallic Madness Zone, Casino Night Zone, and Pirate Land as new stages. The Home Run Contest
