Phil Morris has revealed that he would be very interested in reprising his role as Martian Manhunter for Smallville's animated series. The hit CW show ran for 10 years, the longest-running DC Comics TV show to this day, starting out in 2001 and ending in 2011. Smallville followed the story of a younger Clark Kent, played by Tom Welling, who had to learn to come to grips with his superpowers before fully becoming the famous superhero audiences know today. The show also explored other characters in Superman's life, such as Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum), and how he developed to become the Man of Steel's biggest enemy.
Since the show's ending, Welling reprised his role in a brief cameo appearance on the CW crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths in 2019. But in June of 2021, Welling excited fans by announcing a possible animated Smallville series, teasing that he and Rosenbaum were working on it, with the idea of bringing back most of the original cast. Despite not being officially confirmed by Warner Bros., fans of the show were incredibly excited to hear the news, with Welling giving promising updates to those patiently waiting. The announcement came as a surprise to many as it was announced as a «secret» on a Cameo video to a fan.
