An Elder Scrolls fan used a replica Amulet of Mara for their romantic Skyrim proposal, enchanting fellow fans with the beautiful story and real-life prop. The Elder Scrolls franchise has become a global phenomenon, with fans everywhere enjoying the world of Tamriel through video games and books. The lore has become as well-known as other major fantasy franchises, and new Elder Scrolls novels have begun expanding that canon, bringing Tamriel alive through multiple mediums.
Much like other fantasy game worlds, The Elder Scrolls has rich, in-depth lore that goes deeper than the mainline story, and can be explored through conversations with NPCs, reading tomes and other books, and completing side quests. With its own religious symbols, gods, and myths, The Elder Scrolls is truly a world of its own. Taking center stage are the Daedric princes and the Nine Divines, gods that often interact with the land of mortals. Complete with its own set of rituals, The Elder Scrolls is a diverse landscape of religion and magic. Even the way marriage works in The Elder Scrolls is different from the real world, with the ceremony taking place at a Shrine of Mara rather than at a traditional altar.
