EA has already unveiled that they were bringing back the Skate franchise. The title first saw a release into the marketplace in 2007, and it was a new take on the skateboarding sport after mainly being dominated by the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series. We had only seen this series land into the marketplace with three mainline installments, but we now know EA has a new studio working on a reboot. We haven’t seen the gameplay quite yet, but today, a series of artwork screenshots were leaked online.
If you were hopeful that these screenshots feature the gameplay, you’re out of luck. But you can find them from where we are sourcing this story, Insider Gaming. The publication has found that Imgur was hosting the images, and they are only artwork images right now rather than anything from in-game or the assets you’ll find in this upcoming reboot. Mainly the images show the different clothing options and boards you can come across within the game. There is a variety of different options available for outfits, so it seems like you’ll find plenty of different styles and vibes when skating around the game.
It also makes sense that there is quite a collection of outfits available. We know that this reboot will be a free-to-play gameplay experience which means EA will want to turn a profit through microtransactions. So you’ll likely find a range of outfits and other cosmetics to be locked away behind some kind of paywall. Everything from standard outfits that you would find in skate culture is present to the more wacky costume designs like a hotdog suit.
Meanwhile, some different skateboard deck designs were featured, but some of these were also noted to be pending brand approval. So it’s more of a proof of concept of what we could see
