Mad World developer Jandisoft has published an updated roadmap for the rest of 2023, including planned optimization, combat improvements, better rewards, and new content, among other changes.
The team outlines an overview of two larger planned updates, one for August-September and another sometime in October-November. There are also features in a winter season section of the roadmap to expect sometime in the future after the other updates.
The first update will include improvements to combat mechanics. Some of these changes will affect status ailments, which might mean expanding the variety of status ailments from the pre-existing skills, enhancing and changing how status ailments might work, depending on weapons. They are planning new active skills to give more options for builds, and the ability to buff skills with certain traits. Some of these will also be reflected in updated PVE content.
They're going to also rework the monster combat system, and they want players to perhaps spend a little more time in chapters 1 to 5 instead of speeding through the content. In the update announcement, it says, “Mad World boasts a lot of elite/boss monsters made with care” and they feel that balanced leveling means that people are getting through the content way too quickly and perhaps getting bored at endgame.
Expect new content, including new and varied monsters, reworked monster traits, and a new hardcore dungeon for acts 4-5. A Phantom training ground is also on the way, with its own exclusive challenges. So planning hard mode for raid dungeons and combat dungeons. Pets are also getting improvements to make them useful, including for traits and pet exclusive equipment. The team will also add what they're calling daily life
