During the closing ceremonies of the 2023 Pokemon World Championships in Yokohama, Japan, a new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet And Violet: The Hidden Treasure Of Area Zero Part 2 — The Indigo Disk debuted. The new video revealed several blasts from Pokemon’s past, as every starter Pokemon from previous generations of the game will appear in the wild.
All 24 starters from previous Pokémon games—from Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle to Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble—made an appearance in the trailer. Each of them will appear throughout the Blueberry Academy’s different biomes, where they can be caught and trained like ordinary wild Pokémon.
The trailer also showcased a new slate of Paradox Pokemon which will also arrive in The Indigo Disk. Raging Bolt—which looks like the Gen 2 legendary Raikou mixed with a Tallneck from Horizon: Zero Dawn—showed off its new Thunderclap attack. The other new Paradox Pokémon, the Cobalion-inspired Iron Crown, unleashed a new move of its own called Tachyon Cutter. The trailer ended by teasing a new 19th type for Tera Pokémon, though no specifics were revealed.
The 2023 Pokémon World Championships Closing Ceremonies also revealed new information for Pokémon Unite and the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Pokémon Unite will add Blaziken, Mimikyu, and Meowscarada to its playable roster, while Paradox Pokémon and the return of the Ace Spec mechanic are coming to the Pokemon TCG.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The first part of the Hidden Treasure Of Area Zero DLC, The Teal Mask, will launch September 13.
