Footage of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions has started to appear online.
The footage, which VGC has verified, is believed to be from the closed testing that is currently taking place for the game on PC. VGC won’t link to the footage as it has been captured against the rules of the closed test’s NDA.
The footage was briefly on YouTube before being taken down by Warner Bros. The main clip circulating online appears to confirm that players can either play as a created character, or choose from a number of characters from the Harry Potter series, including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy, and Cho Chang.
Quidditch was notably missing from 2023’s Harry Potter RPG, Hogwarts Legacy. That game featured broom flight and the Quidditch pitch next to the school, but the sport itself wasn’t playable.
Quidditch Champions game is billed as “a complete, standalone Quidditch experience” that “engages players in the sport of Quidditch and other broomstick adventures alongside friends in a competitive, multiplayer setting”.
Quidditch Champions has been in development for several years at LA-based Unbroken Studios, which is also currently contributing to the console versions of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
The studio, which employs around 100 staff, previously developed and self-published mobile multiplayer shooter Fantastic Plastic Squad and PC battle royale game Fractured Lands.
A release date for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions has yet to be announced.
