In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Oscar winner has finally opened up about her upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Disney Plus’s series.
In it, the actress expressed her disappointment with not getting to play a character with superpowers. “I kept asking if I could be bitten by something or fall into a vat of something,” she said. “They were having none of it.”
The Favourite actress is set to portray the role of MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth, who will act both as Nick Fury’s ally and adversary due to their different methods in handling the fight against rogue Skrulls. In addition, Samuel L. Jackson also recalled how excited he was during his first day filming with Colman, whom he had admired for a long while.
“I thought, ‘How lucky can I be to know that today is finally going to be the day I get to act with Olivia Colman?’” Jackson added. “The next thing you know, we were having the most fun you could ever have, sitting there pretending to be these two people that have had a long relationship seeing each other again for the first time in years.”
Secret Invasion is led by MCU mainstay Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury. He will be teaming up with Captain Marvel‘s Ben Mendelsohn, who is returning as the pseudo-leader of the Skrulls, Talos. This marks Nick Fury’s first solo project in the MCU after 15 years of playing the former SHIELD director.
Joining them are MCU newcomers Kingsley Ben-Adir as the antagonist Gravik, Oscar winner Olivia Colman as MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth, Emilia Clarke as Talos’ now-adult daughter G’iah, Dermot Mulrone, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo.
