Samuel L. Jackson likes to think his Jurassic Park character is still alive. Universal's successful franchise is set to receive its sixth installment, Jurassic World Dominion, this summer, though it all began back in 1993 with Steven Spielberg's original film, the first in a trilogy that many audiences felt degraded with each installment. The franchise returned in a big way with Jurassic World in 2015, which was praised for recapturing the spirit of the original.
Thanks to his roles as Mace Windu in Star Wars, Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and various characters in Quentin Tarantino's films, Jackson is one of the most recognizable actors on the planet and even holds the title of the highest-grossing actor of all-time. But in 1993, Jackson had only a few small roles under his belt, such as parts in Coming to America, Do the Right Thing, and Goodfellas. Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster was his biggest exposure at the time and saw Jackson featured as Jurassic Park's chain-smoking chief computer engineer, Ray Arnold, who was killed off-screen by a velociraptor, with only his dismembered arm being recovered.
