Pulp Fiction star Samuel L. Jackson recently joked that Kenan Thompson got the actor banned from Saturday Night Live. The long-running live variety series has been an NBC staple since 1975. The Academy Award-nominated actor previously hosted the show in 1998, with his only other appearances coming in a 2012 episode as a brief cameo. One of which Jackson allegedly uttered an expletive during the live broadcast.
During the December 15, 2012 episode hosted by SNL-alum Martin Short, Jackson joined Portlandia's Carrie Brownstein as guests on the fictional talk show «What's Up with That?,» a recurring sketch with the show's longest-tenured player Thompson as the show's host. During the sketch, Kenan would interrupt his guest with songs and dance numbers much to their chagrin. When the moment came for Jackson to show his frustration, the actor yelled, "Man, f**k!" with Kenan cutting him off at the last moment, only he didn't. Kenan improvises his next line, "C'mon, Sam" to which Jackson responds with, "This is some bullsh*t!" Kenan expertly plays off of the moment with a joke about the foul language costing money to raucous applause from the audience.
